Step by Step LUN Creation Tutorial:
Access the IBM DS using the IBM Storage Manger Client.
It has two windows.
1. Enterprise Storage Window
2. Storage Sub System Window
If you access via IBM storage Manager, you get connect to the enterprise window. There you select which storage sub system to manage.
This is the storage sub system window.
It has a two views.
1. Physical & Logical View (Controllers and Disk Array Enclosures)
2. Mappings view ( LUN masking and Host Information)
To check and set the IP address for the controllers.
To List the information about the storage sub system. Click View button.
Menus in the storage sub system.
Creating an Array.
Steps:
1. Create an array using the reconfigured capacity.
2. Specify the array name
3. Select the RAID level and number of disks.
4. LUN mapping with the Host Operating System.
Array Creation wizard.
Specify the Array name and select the disks manually or automatically.
Select the RAID Level and Disks.
Array DBSENTHIL created successfully.
Creating a LUN. Select the array and right click, create Logical Drive.
Specify the LUN Size and LUN Name.
LUN Mapping --- Host Operating System.
This is mappings view .
Always after creating the LUN, the LUN is available in the undefined group.
Creating a Host group.
Adding hosts to that group.
Now hosts are added to the new host group.
Mapping the Existing LUN to the defined Host.
Now the particular Host can see and access the LUN.
