Creating a Datastore in ESX server:
Find the iqn value of ESX server and create an igroup in NetApp Filer.
Then, create a LUN in NetApp Filer.
Once the LUN ia mapped to the ESX server then add the data store.
Open a vSphere client and login to the ESX server.
The TAB configuration contains all the config information.
There you click the storage adapters, and find the initiator iqn.
Enable the iscsi initiator.
Add the iscsi Target (Dynamic, Static) . Iscsi uses the port number:3260.
Rescan the storage adapters. You will get the NetApp iscsi LUN.
Now move on to the stoage tab, and add new data store.
Two ways to add a datastore.
1. Through iscsi or FCP LUN.
2. NFS
If you add the disk or LUN. It will list the available LUN's.
Select which LUN you want to add as a datastore.
Partition and formatting is done. It uses the vmfs3 file system.
Add a datastore name.
Now it is available in the ESX server data store.
Using this data store you can create a new vm's.
All the Best ...............................
