Advance Disk Configuration in Netbackup



NetBackup Device Configuration:

Install the Veritas NetBackup Master Server and Media server.

Connect the Tape Library and test whether you can able to access the tape.

Open the Netbackup Admin Console.



It will open the netbackup Console.


In the Host properties tab , Check the Master servers.
One master server is available.



3 media Servers available.


Now you can go with Configure Storage Device.


Device Configuration Wizard.



This will automatically discover the available media servers.



This will automatically discovered the Robo's and drives.



It has detect the tape library and drives.




You have list the scsi address.





Once it's configured, then it restarts the device manager service.(ltid service)


Then, you have to create the storage unit.


Creating the Advance Disk Storage.


Select the SAN disk Clients.




Selecting the storage Server.


Now it is creating Storage Server.




Storage server successfully created.


Now , we can create a disk pool.




The following Disk types are available.

1. Advance Disk
2. Open Storage
3. PureDisk
4. Nearstore
5. Snap vault

Select Advance Disk.




Select the concern Storage Server.



Select the LUN (Disk)



Set the disk pool name and set the High and Low level water marks for the disk Staging.



Disk Pool Summary.


Now creating Disk pool.




Now creating the Storage Unit for the disk Pool.



Select the media server, disk pool and storage unit name.




Storage unit successfully Created.



Now check the storage units. Tape and Disk storage units are available.



Creating the Volume pool.

Inventory the robot. This will discover all the tapes inside the library magazine.








These are the physical tape are available.




It will be update in the catalog.




Now you check with media. Two physical tapes are available.




Creating a new policy.



Provide the policy



Select the policy type and the policy name.


Select the clients.

select the backup selections.




Select the backup types.

Netbackup has the following backup types:

1. Full backup
2. Differential Incremental Backup
3. Cumulative Incremental Backup
4. User backup
5. User Archive.




Set the start window schedule.





Now you run the manual backup.





It is mounting  the tape and start writing.
